Michael Garabedian Cancer Fundraiser Online Auction of remaining items from Carey Mansion Fundraiser...!

First of all I wanted to thank all my friends, business associates and clients that took time out of the final weekend of their summer on Labor Day weekend to attend my Cancer Fundraiser. I can't even explain to you how much it meant to me to see all of you (some of you I hadn't seen in 10 years) and help me raise money for a cause that I personally experience 3 years ago. All the families I met during my 24 weeks of Cancer treatment, that lost a family member to this deadly disease is why I put together this Cancer Fundraiser. I personally had 7 months of cancer treatment that included surgery to my face to remove the cancerous tumor from my sinus cavity. Then proton radiation to this area 5 days a week for 8 weeks (now I dont have to shave my Armenian mono-brow anymore plus it is good as a plumber that I lost all sense of smell...LOL!). Finally the chemo for 8 weeks where I lost 30 lbs and all my hair (I need to lose 10 lbs anyway...LOL!). During all this time, I met so many families that lost a family member to this deadly disease. It was the loss of the innocent children that got to me the most since they never got to experience life with their first Christmas, their prom, their first LOVE, Marriage and ultimately the joy of having their own kids. Believe me when I say that I know how lucky I am! I have never even had any of the side effects that were supposed to be the results of such strong dosages of proton radiation to my face for example: The radiation memory which is supposed to turn the my left cheek and nose into a red blotch if I am in the sun even for just 5 minutes...Nothing! I was supposed to have vision side effects and chronic head aches since the tumor was up against my optic nerve and they had to remove it with surgery and then radiate that entire area...Nothing! I was supposed to have root damage to my teeth since the other side of the tumor was up all the roots of my teeth on that side of my mouth and they had to remove it with surgery and then radiate that entire area...Nothing! Even the doctors can't explain why I have avoided these side affects since it happens to almost 100 of their patients that have proton radiation to their face along with the surgery that close to optic nerves and teeth roots....! I can't help but get the feeling that I was spared all this for a reason!
I feel strongly that the reason was because I was meant to help raise money through all the good people I have met in my extremely social life. Several of these people are in a position to instantly make any Cancer Fundraiser that I could be part of or run myself a success since they own promotion companies that throw large events (typically for 500) for various causes including Cancer. Long story short I tried to put together a last minute Cancer Fundraiser this past weekend at the Carey Mansion on the ocean in Newport, RI. The fact is that we started putting this together less than 3 weeks before Labor Day weekend when the opportunity to use this mansion was made available to me since I know the owners. The problem was that everyone I know already had other plans for this holiday weekend. These plans included going to Nantucket, the Hamptons, Block Island or at family BBQ's and also a friends Cape Cod wedding for the weekend and so these friends could not attend my Cancer Fundraiser. It also didnt help that there was a hurricane on Friday so all my friends with boats/yachts were busy securing their boats or literally taking them out of the water...! Many of these friends have lost a mother/father/brother or other loved one/close friend. So what I am doing is giving them the opportunity to donate either through this online auction of the remaining items from the auction we had at the Cancer Fundraiser with authentically signed sports collectibles from Boston Sports along with restaurant gift certificates from the Atlantic Beach Club inside restaurant (No JK, DR. Mike, and G-Money, Mr. O'Malley you can't use this gift certificate for drinks outside at the ABC...LOL!) and H2O water front restaurant in Newport! Please take the time to donate to our cause which is to help fund the research that is necessary to some day find a cure for this deadly disease. To donate go to this fundraiser event link: http://mikegcancerfundraiser.eventbrite.com/

For those of you that actually came to the Cancer Fundraiser and neglected to donate after enjoying the OPEN Bars, Catered Food, the DJ from Boston and of course the playboy models that were body painted this is your opportunity to DONATE...! Please donate what ever you can in this tough economic time (even just $25) for this purpose of finding new ways to fight this disease to save lives and the hope of some day finding a cure...!

Call me if you have any questions about this foundation. We will be providing pictures and an explanation of the authentically signed Boston/New England sports memorabilia that remains from the Cancer Fundraiser at the Carey Mansion!

Thank you for your support...!

Sincerely,

Michael Garabedian

Crafty Hacks meet and greet!
**Update*** I'm thrilled there are so many new members! There looks to be a decent amount of people coming so what I would like to do is have this be a more relaxed, meet and greet so we can all get acquainted. I just don't think we can dedicate enough time for an actual demo - but if folks are super excited about needle felting I can do one for the next meetup and that will give me some time to organize some materials for everyone. I will bring a supply list and a few tools to show people what they need to needle felt along with an example of needle felting on reup'd material. How does that sound? How about a needle felting demo? I can bring some tools and basic info - and we can get acquainted. No fee just bring yourself and if you have any tools great. I have some roving to share and some felt. More details later.

Melrose JazzFest
Melrose JazzFest is in its fourth year of presenting professional jazz concerts in the beautiful setting of historic Memorial Hall in Melrose, all for the low, low ticket price of $15 for adults and $8 for seniors, kids, and students.

The event grew from the fact that there is a cluster of jazz musicians who live in Melrose, many of whom are associated with Berklee College of Music in Boston. It seemed wrong not to gather these musicians together and get them on stage, doing what they love to do -- perform!

They, in turn, invited their friends from the Boston area to join them and -- voila! -- a great jazz festival was born.

MJF traditionally includes a presentation designed to introduce children to jazz. This year, Ricardo Monzon and Stan Strickland return with their terrific Jazz4Kids, beginning at 2:00 PM. Their interactive extravaganza guarantees that all the kids in the audience will jiving to the music.

Anchoring the production and performing at 3:30 PM is the Melrose JazzCollective: Bruce Gertz on bass; Joe Mulholland on piano; Ken Cervenka on trumpet; Bill Reynolds on drums; Tim Miller on guitar; Joining them will be Donna McElroy offering the power and passion of her unique vocal styling.

Headliner for JazzFest 2010, at 5:30 PM, will be the Kenny Hadley Big Band, known as a powerful 16-piece band that delivers choice material from the American Songbook. Joining them will be vocalist Amanda Carr, hailed by noted jazz critic Nat Hentoff as "a true jazz singer in a time of wannabes."

There will be a dance floor available and professionals on hand to help novice dancers get the hang of it.

All THREE concerts are yours for ONE ticket price: $15 for adults and $8 for seniors, kids, and students. Come for one, two, or all three concerts.

NOTE: No one under 2 years old will be admitted.
